Jay Spadone

Jay Spadone

Mr. Spadone was a music director for the Williamstown Theatre Festival for four seasons. During that time he worked with Tennesee Williams, Arthur Miller, and Niko Psacharapoulos to write original scores to world premier plays. He also arranged and performed 16 different cabaret shows, working with such actors and singers as Blythe Danner, Christopher Reeve, James Naughton, Michael Ontkean, Karen Allen, among many others. He has also worked for the Sharon Playhouse, the Whole Theatre, Montclair Theatrefest and San Diego's Theatre in Old Town. Mr. Spadone appeared in many companies of the musical Pump Boys and Dinettes, including the LA company. Some of the music Mr. Spadone wrote for Mr. Williams was heard in the 1985 Broadway revival of Streetcar Named Desire with Carrie Nye. Off-Broadway credits include The Beat Goes On, Hang On To the Good Times, The Kathy and Mo Show and The Head. Mr. Spadone has played piano or bass for artists like Carole King, Phoebe Snow, Tanya Tucker, Marc Cohen and Michael Bolton.

Mr. Spadone has also worked managing the careers of actors like Sally Kirkland, Richard Greico, Richard Karn, Rosetta LeNoire and Charles Dutton. For the last 15 years Mr. Spadone has produced the StrawHat Auditions in New York City, one of the largest combined auditions in the country for actors looking to work in summer stock and regional theaters. Mr. Spadone teamed up with violinist and faculty member Justin Smith to form the Kitchen Sink Band in 2003, playing jazz and popular music for public concerts and private events.

Mr. Spadone has a BA in Music and English from Colgate University, attended Berklee School of Music and was a student of John Mehegan, Lou Stein and Emmanual Zambelli. Recent recordings include work with Mark Teamaker and Greg Naughton. Mr. Spadone developed the first early music program for KidsU, a childrens education and activity center and received certification in music education for the public schools. He lives in Fairfield with his wife and two daughters.
