A concertmaster with the Jupiter Symphony and the Naumburg Orchestra of Lincoln Center, violinist-violist Michael Nicholas has performed with many other major orchestras as well including the New York Chamber Symphony, the Little Orchestra Society, the Metropolitan Opera Guild Orchestra, the Riverside Symphony and the Fairfield Orchestra. He has given recital performances on six continents and has performed with the Mark Morris Dance Company, New York Philomusica, and the Opus One Chamber Players among other ensembles and was a member of the resident string quartet at Swarthmore College. He has won the Garrigues Foundation Award, the Boyd T. Barnard Award, the Eugene Lang Scholarship, the Elizabeth Pollard Fetter Scholarship and has taught at the Center for Preparatory Studies in Music at Queens College and the Kinhaven School. He was a student among others of Eugene Drucker and of Arnold Steinhardt in the master’s program at Rutgers University.
