Lin Li

IMG: Lin LiLin Li was one of 6 pianists at the age of 11 to be accepted into the prestigious Central Conservatory of Beijing's Primary School. Prior to that, she was named Outstanding Youth Pianist in China's national competition. Ms. Li stayed at The Central Conservatory where she earned a Diploma, and a Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance. Upon graduation she was hired as an assistant professor at The Central Conservatory, where she taught Piano and Sight Reading. She then took a position as a piano professor at The Lowery Music School in Singapore, after which, in 1996 immigrated to the United States, and in 2000 received a Master's Degree in Piano Performance from Queen's College's Aaron Copland School of Music in New York City. At Queen's College she was the repetiteur for the opera studio, and pianist in the University Orchestra. During the course of her Master's Degree Ms. Li was awarded several scholarships and awards including the "Chamber Music Live" award, and the "Masters" award. After graduation She was invited back to her Alma Matter as a guest soloist to play the Schumann Piano Concerto with The Queen's College Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Li has also performed with the Long Island Composer's Alliance, and at The Society of Composers National Conference in New York. During the summers of 1999 and 2000 she was a Faculty Accompanist at The Weathersfield Music Festival in Vermont. Her teachers include, Li Hui Li, Hua Zhen Xie, Morey Ritt, and Eckhart Selheim.

She spent four years in Arizona beginning in the fall of 2000, where she was very active as a piano teacher, and performer. At Arizona State University, she was a staff accompanist, as well as the accompanist for the University Choir, and the Graduate Chorale. In June 2003, she accompanied Metropolitan Opera singers, Gordon Hawkins and Isola Jones at Arizona Opera's Black Tie Gala in Sedona, Arizona, and in the fall of 2003, was Music Director and Accompanist for Arizona Opera's Education Outreach Tour of Humperdink's Hansel and Gretel. In January 2004, she served as the official accompanist for The Herberger Theater Young Artist Competition. Ms. Li is currently a freelance soloist, accompanist, and teacher, playing for instrumentalists, and singers, as well as accompanying The Queens College Choral Society. She is on the faculties of The Music Conservatory of Westchester, The Weston Music Center and School of Performing Arts, in Weston Connecticut, and frequently accompanies student recitals at SUNY Purchase. Ms. Li accompanied Flutist Elise Carter in recital at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall in October of 2005, and has been invited back to perform with Ms. Carter again this January. Other upcoming performances include a chamber music concert with violinist Ragga Petursdottir at The Paramount Performing Arts Center in Peekskill, and a "Noonday Getaway Concert" of American Song at Grace Church in White Plains, with Baritone, Robert Weintraub. She lives in Hartsdale, New York, with her husband, Baritone Robert Weintraub, and their dog, Coco, a Cocker Spaniel.
