A native of Taiwan,
Wei-Hsien Lien came to New York in 1991. She was a student of Morey Ritt at Queens College (CUNY) and received both Bachelor of Music and Master of Arts degrees in piano performance. She is now a candidate for the degree of Doctor of Collaborative Arts at the University of Maryland, studying with Rita Sloan. She also studied chamber music with Ronald Roseman and Barbara Stein Mallow. Ms. Lien has given many solo and chamber music concerts in the United States and Puerto Rico. An active and versatile collaborative pianist, she has assisted in the studios of Daniel Phillips, Tara O'Connor, Randall Wolfgang and Charles Neidich.
In 2006, at her New York debut recital with violist Elena Rojas in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, The New York Concert Review praised "the excellent Taiwanese pianist" and commented that, "to her enormous credit, Ms. Lien kept the piano almost closed so that the balance, too, was exemplary." Ms. Lien has taught at the Center for Preparatory Studies in Music at Queens College. She is on the piano faculty of the Weston Music Center and School of the Performing Arts in Weston, Connecticut. Current engagements include recitals in New York, Connecticut and Argentina.
